Stride Well Foot and Health Services philosophy is simple and borrowed. “When our feet hurt, we hurt all over.”—Socrates

We created this business to educate, promote, empower and help all ages of Nova Scotianers to learn about the overall importance of proper health and maintenance of their legs and feet.

Many of us take our feet for granted. We get up in the morning, wiggle our toes a bit, and slide on socks and shoes. For most of us, that’s it. Unless we have some type of foot pain, we give our feet little thought. But our feet are vital to our existence. They get us from one place to another and having painful feet can restrict us from the daily activities we enjoy doing. Our feet are one of the most used but abused parts of our body. But many people tend to ignore the importance of foot health until problems set in.

The main culprit, really, is ignorance. Too many people simply do not know how to care for their feet and legs.

Despite the advance of the internet and free education programs throughout Nova Scotia, studies show that patients feel a large disconnect between themselves and their health care practitioners. The statistics between what a doctor tells their patients about the state of their health care and what patients retain and understand are troubling. It boils down to time.

Time, that elusive commodity that we all wish for more of.
It can be difficult for doctors who are diagnosing patients with a new health issue or reviewing chronic conditions to have the time and the patience to go over each and every step. That is why it is encumbent upon us to put more power in the hands of the patients themselves for their health and well being and at Stride Well our promise to you is genuine patient care, and this will be reflected in the approach planning and decision making process at all times.

Stride Well can offer extensive knowledge and more than just a pain management approach for your foot and leg care. As well-educated foot care practitioners we understand the importance of patients with diabetes and high-risk foot conditions regarding their risk factors and appropriate management.

Working within the guidelines of the Chronic Disease Management program, Stride Well will offer a  proper assessment of your current knowledge and care practices. If you are an at risk patient, we will educate you on the implications of the loss of protective sensation, the importance of foot monitoring on a daily basis, the proper care of the foot, including nail and skin care, and the selection of appropriate footwear. The patient’s understanding of these issues and their physical ability to conduct proper foot surveillance and care will also be assessed.

Stride Well will help to eliminate the guesswork and intimidation of treatment benefits for you. As an educated patient you will begin to understand your ailment and want to be more proactive in your future leg and foot health.
